Originally hailing from Co. Clare and now based in Canada, Irish folk singer-songwriter Michael Darcy has released three critically acclaimed studio albums since 2018 while spending the last few years touring North America with his band The Atlantic Tramps. His second album Down to the Roots garnered a 2023 Canadian Folk Music Awards nomination for Traditional Singer of the Year while his original song “The Ballad of Uncle Frank” was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2023 Ontario Folk Music Awards. Irish Music Magazine raved that “Darcy’s originals sit so comfortably within the genre that you’d swear they’ve been around for generations.” Michael also embarked on a successful Irish tour in 2023 culminating in a packed show at the historic Cobblestone venue in Dublin. He released his third studio album, Homemade, in 2025 and as the title suggests, it was engineered, recorded & produced at Michael’s home studio in Paris ON becoming his first DIY release. It once again lead to a 2026 Canadian Folk Music Awards nomination for Traditional Singer of the Year while his self-penned ballad “Wild West Clare” has received praise from Irish folk legend Christy Moore.
